Dell'Oro Releases its View of the WW Enterprise Telephony Landscape
February 23rd, 2006.

Dell'Oro released its view of the WW enterprise telephony landscape for 4Q05 and FY 2005.  Avaya maintained the leadership position for 2005 with 19.3% share, over 3 points ahead of Siemens' 16% share.  Nortel follows third with 12% share.  Cisco ranks #6 with 6% share.

In our fifth consecutive quarter of leadership, Avaya also maintained WW leadership in calendar 4Q05 with 19% share while Cisco remained 6th with 6% share.

Among the variety of reports available, Avaya consistently relies on the reports that align with our view of the telephony market.  These Reports are:

  • Worldwide Enterprise Telephony - Revenue market share from Dell'Oro
  • Worldwide IP Telephony - Ports (lines) shipped market share from Synergy Research
  • U.S. Enterprise Telephony and IP Telephony - Lines shipped from InfoTech

Dell'Oro includes "IP phones" only in their IP Telephony measurement, and does not include IP enabled systems.  Dell'Oro numbers most closely align with Avaya for revenue market share.

Bottom Line:

Avaya offers the industry's most comprehensive solution portfolio based on IP and ultimately maintains leadership in this market.  Our competitors will report leadership and standings in the way that best aligns for their business; however the bottom line remains the same regardless of the source of market share.  Customer facing teams must continue to reinforce the components of Intelligent Communications and articulate the value of open, secure and standards based business communications solutions.
